We'd learned about Outback medical treat and communications, but what about educating the children in the remote locations? The School of the Air fills that void. It's a unique educational group that teaches children living in remote Outback communities. One hundred forty two students spread over thousands of miles receive instruction via satellite internet, mail service, and telephone. It's all coordinated through a small school and 14 teachers. Children "attend" school 4.5 hours per day from age 4-1/2 through 8th grade.
