We arrived yesterday in Rio, where we’ll spend the next three nights. As the home of the bossa nova, world-famous beaches, and a renowned annual carnaval, Rio is a city known for its exuberant zest for life.
Our overnight flights arrived anywhere from 6 AM - early afternoon, and as weary travelers most of us got a slow start in this vibrant city by unpacking our bags, taking a shower, walking to the ATM for local money, and a walk on the beach.
Our welcome dinner was at a churrascaria, which showcases Brazil's many meats. We started with a buffet of salads and seafood, then were served any number of meats by waiters who brought ribs (pork and beef), prime rib, tenderloin, chicken, lamb, and on and on... We soon learned "puoco" (small) and "não maisin" (no more) in Portuguese.
We fly to South America today! First stop - beautiful Rio! We arrive tomorrow morning after an overnight flight.
We're traveling with OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel). The main trip is 19 days and most of us are going on a 5 day extension to Easter Island.

We have a new email distribution system for our travel blogs. I'm now using MailChimp, the same system I use for our Newsletter blasts. With the change, your blog emails will have a whole new look when we start our South American travels on January 22.
Normally I only post blogs while traveling, but I want to be sure the system is working before we leave for South America, so I'm sending this test blog to be sure it works.
Please reply to this email: I need your help to be sure this works.
Thank you for your patience with this change. Please send me a note or give me a call with any questions or concerns.
