The bus took us to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory which has many interesting exhibits. We particularly enjoyed the Aboriginal Art gallery with accompanying narrative and video presentations.
The other unique and fascinating exhibit was of Cyclone Tracy which devastated the own in 1974. The exhibit included newscasts, photos, videos and most interestingly, a recording of the sounds of the hurricane.
This is only the most recent of the catastrophic events in Darwin's history. The city has been almost entirely rebuilt four times, following devastation caused by the 1897 cyclone, the 1937 cyclone, Japanese air raids during World War II, and Cyclone Tracy in 1974.
