September 11-26

Austria: Vienna, Melk • Germany: Passau, Regensburg, Nuremberg, Bamberg, Wurzburg, Wertheim, Heidelberg, Rudesheim, Koblenz, Cologne •  The Netherlands: Amsterdam

escorted by Terri Dion
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Journey on Grand Circle's signature European River Cruise—on their most popular trip—through the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria, uncovering local cultures along the way both onboard and during excursions such as a Home-Hosted Kaffeeklatsch in Germany.
  • Venture through history along the scenic Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers, where medieval architecture beckons from every riverbank ... time-honored wine-making traditions abound at hillside vineyards ... and landscapes seem to spring from the canvases of centuries-old masterworks.
  • Take in the sites, sounds, and flavors of three distinct European nations—from Amsterdam's charming canals to Germany's traditional folk music and Vienna's renowned coffeehouse culture.

If you're going to Vienna early:
Some of you have told me you are going to Vienna a day or two early and have asked where to stay.  Here are some possibilities:
  1. John Menard stayed at a Hotel in Vienna a few years ago that he recommends.  You might check it out online: https://starinnhotels.com/star-inn-hotel-premium-wien-hauptbahnhof-by-quality/   The train station is right next to it: map and the train goes directly to/from the airport.
  2. The GCT pre-trip is currently scheduled to use the Regina Hotel in Vienna. This is subject to change up until the trip is finalized, but they try our best not to make hotel changes.  They will not make your hotel reservations for you, but you can do it online:  Regina Hotel Vienna
The ship will be docked at the Vienna-Handelskai "DDSG" dock. The docking area is where all ships have to dock in Vienna so the taxi driver should know it. If not, let them know the dock is by the Francis of Assisi Church (which translates to "Franz von Assis Kirche" in Austrian).  Map
